Property crimes are the most common offenses reported in Grapevine. The Property Crimes Unit is tasked with gathering information, interviewing victims and potential suspects, collecting evidence, arresting offenders, recovering property and facilitating the preparation of property crime cases for court prosecution.
Detectives accomplish these tasks through the analysis of current crime trends, the uses of proven investigative techniques, modern police technology and the forensics sciences. Through this multi-faceted approach to investigations, criminal suspects are identified and apprehended.
Detectives strive to contact all crime victims, including suspended cases. A suspended case is an offense where there are no existing investigative leads. By contacting the victims of suspended cases, victims are notified of the case status and are urged to provide any additional information that may change the investigation's status to an active case.
